From Tournride we wish to offer you the best services so you can enjoy your trip without unnecessary worries. For this reason, we have decided to include with all of our bicycles our Insurance Tournride Full Assistance, without any extra cost.

The main objective of the insurance Tournride Full Assistance is to provide you with road assistance. If during your trip, some incidence happens that leaves your bicycle immobilized and you are not able to solve it -whether is a technical problem, a case of theft, or even a health issue- you would be able to call our permanent helpline, 24-hour service, 365 days a year, and in several different languages.

The Way passes trough rural and unpopulated areas, so we work hard to minimize to a maximum the incidences that our bicycles can suffer. We even equip our fleet with an anti-puncture system to avoid any eventuality. The insurance is a last resort in case you are not able to continue your trip for not being able to repair the bicycle, and in order to make you feel more secure during your adventure.

Hereunder, we explain you step by step the details about Tournride Full Assistance, what it’s covered and what it’s not covered, and how to proceed in case you need to resort to it.

Procedure to be followed

In the event of a bicycle breakdown that you are not able to deal with, if it happens during weekday in opening hours, try to contact us first in the telephone: +34 981 936 616.

If the incidence occurs in a weekend day, try to contact us first too to that same number, calling us or by whatsapp.

If we are not able to attend you, please call the permanent helpline: +34 915 949 326.

Repair and transport

The insurance company will cover the transportation to the nearest workshop, generally at the end of the stage, to repair the bicycle. The repair costs, or the replacement if necessary, shall be born by Tournride. At most workshops, they will repair the bicycle and we will pay the bill. At others that do not work with us, it could be that you have to pay for the repairs. In this case you need to ask for the receipt and Tournride will transfer you the amount once we have received the slip.

In case sending a new bicycle is justified and necessary, we would send it as soon as possible and the cost will be born by Tournride. Please take notice that if the breakdown happens during a weekend, this could incur in delays that would be beyond our reach to avoid.

If the bicycle is an e-bike, in the case of a breakdown happening, we will send you a new one to be delivered the next day -from monday to saturday- before 13pm in the place of your choosing. The repair of an ebike is a delicate process that is preferable done at our workshop.

In some places in Galicia that are within our operating range, it could be possible to give you direct assistance with out technical staff, but for now it is a service we cannot guarantee.

In the event of theft

Our insurance Tournride Full Assistance would also cover you in the event of theft, as long as some conditions are meet. That is, that the bicycles should have been well-secured and locked at the time of the incident.

In this case, you should call us and follow our instructions to file a complaint with the police, to avoid incurring additional cost.

Injuries

The insurance also covers primary care expenses. If you suffer some medical incident that prevent you from continuing your trip, as for example a heat stroke, the insurance Tournride Full Assistance could cover the transportation to the end of the stage and part of the medical expenses.

Loopholes not resolved by Tournride Full Assistance

Its is important at this point to tell apart between two different concepts: repair and maintenance. The first one, as we have explained, shall be born by Tournride. A proper maintenance, though, is under the responsibility of the customer: to keep the moving parts clean and greased. If you don’t know how to do it, we are here to resolve any doubt you may have, and we can recommend you specialized workshops. Generally, you can get a maintenance operation from €10 to €20.

Regarding road assistance, it should be taken into account that it could be difficult to find an open workshop during weekend days, specially in towns as small and rural as the ones one can find during the Way of Saint James. If the breakdown happens during a weekend day, it could be necessary to wait until Monday to get a repair. Tournride does not asume any responsibility for possible delays that this may cause. The same would apply if it was necessary to send a new bicycle.

Likewise, the insurance covers the transportation until the end of the stage or to the nearest workshop, whereas it does not cover other types of transportation.
