How to Prepare for Your Bike’s Arrival at Your Accommodation (Hassle-Free Delivery)

Tournride Team
Group Of Cyclists On The Camino De Santiago With Tournride Bikes

At Tournride we bring your bike to your accommodation so it’s ready when you start the Camino, and we collect it when you finish. Because the bikes travel in large boxes, we ship them in advance.

The good news: this only affects two accommodations in your whole trip —where you receive the bike and where you leave it for return—. Here’s how to make sure both deliveries go smoothly.

1. Only two accommodations matter: the first and the last

Delivery and collection only affect the accommodation where you receive the bike (at the start) and the accommodation where you leave it for us to collect (at the end). For the in-between stops, sleep wherever you like —holiday flat, country house, whatever you prefer—; just make sure they let you store the bikes somewhere safe overnight.

2. The bike may arrive a few days early

To guarantee you have it on day one, we ship with a margin. The package may arrive up to 3 or 4 days early, especially if there are public holidays or weekends in between. That’s why it helps if that accommodation can receive and store it without trouble.

3. All we ask: space and a staffed reception

That those two accommodations have space to store the box and someone to receive it. You don’t need 24-hour reception: it’s enough to have staff during working hours to take in parcels, both for the delivery and for the return collection.

4. Confirm it beforehand with your accommodation

A simple message does the trick: «Can you receive and store a large box with a rental bike for a few days?». Tell them too that you’re expecting the shipment and the name the booking is under, so reception knows what it is when it arrives.

5. For the first and last, a staffed reception is best

Only for those two, in our experience, accommodations with a staffed reception (hotels, guesthouses, hostels) make delivery more convenient and secure. If for either of them you choose a place without permanent staff —like a holiday flat— confirm carefully that someone will be there to receive and store the bike. For the rest of the stages this doesn’t matter: choose whatever you like.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to worry about the bike at every accommodation on the Camino?

No. Only the first accommodation (where you receive the bike) and the last (where you leave it) need to be able to receive and store it. For the ones in between, a safe place to keep it overnight is enough.

How early does the bike arrive?

We ship with a margin to guarantee you have it on day one. The package may arrive up to 3 or 4 days early, especially with holidays or a weekend in between.

Is a holiday flat fine?

For the in-between stages, no problem. For the first and last accommodation it’s better to have a staffed reception; if you choose a flat, confirm carefully that someone will be there to receive and store the box.

What do I do with the bike when I finish the Camino?

You leave it at your final accommodation and we collect it. We just need that accommodation to be able to store it and hand it to our transport during working hours.
