The Camino de Santiago passes through Spain, which means pilgrims travelling it — whether on foot or by bike — are protected by Spanish consumer law. In practice, most pilgrims are unaware of these rights: the right to receive accurate information about services, to obtain receipts, to file complaints, to receive assistance in case of a problem, and to access consumer arbitration systems free of charge.
The Xunta de Galicia — the regional government of Galicia, where the Camino ends — compiled these rights in a document specifically aimed at pilgrims. At Tournride we think every pilgrim should have access to this information before setting off, so we make it available here for download in six languages.
The documents cover your rights as a consumer when dealing with accommodation, restaurants, transport, tourist services and any other service you use along the route. They also explain how to file a complaint and what official channels are available to you.
